The advanced MWD system utilizes VersaLogic’s Raven board (VL-EPU-3312) paired with an Analog Input Mini PCIe card (VL-MPEe-A2E) to control the mud-pulse transmission process. The system helps with drilling direction for both straight-hole and horizontal drilling to ensure they are getting to the stuff that matters—oil.

The MWD mud-pulse system works directly in the drilling hole by either restricting or releasing the flow of the drilling fluid (mud), creating pulses which transmit highly accurate azimuth and inclination data to the surface. Rapid and accurate transmission to pressure sensors on the surface enables the most complex well paths to be drilled with confidence. There are also sensors that measure resistance to prevent jamming or blockage of the hole as they drill.
