Eugene, Oregon — VersaLogic Corp. will be shipping two new versions of its popular PC/104-Plus Single Board Computer (SBC), the Cheetah beginning in May, 2008. The Cheetah, which features a powerful 1.8 GHz Pentium M processor, is targeted at applications such as medical, avionics, navigation/tracking, system monitoring, and security/homeland defense, that require substantial processing power and extensive features in a rugged, compact design. It is especially well suited for embedded control applications requiring a very small footprint, which the 3.6" x 3.8" (90mm x 96mm) board provides. The new RoHS-compliant Cheetah is available in standard temperature (0° to +60°C) and extended (-40° to +85°C) temperature versions. The introduction of the RoHS-compliant Cheetah products demonstrates VersaLogic's continuing commitment to support embedded computing applications that are subject to RoHS regulations.
Standard on-board features of the new RoHS-compliant Cheetahs include 2 COM ports, 2 USB 2.0 ports, Ethernet, IDE, LPT, audio, and PS/2 keyboard/mouse support. The board also features integrated high-performance video output with support for both analog monitors and LVDS flat-panels. The Extreme Graphics 2 video processor includes high speed 3-D rendering, full-motion video, and MPEG-2 decoding. The PC/104-Plus interface supports both ISA and PCI add-on modules. Standard pass-through connectors allow the board to be used either above or below other PC/104 modules. It may also be used as a CPU module for larger system, by plugging it into a proprietary base board that includes specific user I/O circuitry. The new RoHS-Compliant Cheetah is available in either standard (0° to 60°C) or extended temperature (-40° to +85°C) versions. As with other VersaLogic embedded computer boards, the Cheetah includes a customizable, OEM-enhanced BIOS that is field-upgradeable. It is designed to work with embedded operating systems, including Windows CE/XP/XPe, Linux, VxWorks, QNX, DOS, and other real-time Operating Systems.
